The theme for this year, naturally, was "Tally Whacker 2001, A Golf Odyssey." This suggestion came from my lovely wife, Debby. To that end, each player was advised to
"bring something futuristic related to the game of golf. It may be clothing, a new golf club, creative bag, electronic device, etc. …explanations of those things which are not self explanatory will be required."
One of the most memorable was a ball finding device introduced by Steve Morrison which beeped louder as you got closer to the ball. If the ball could not be found, the device would say "Where in the hell is the damn ball?" I personally designed a driver with a "spoiler" to help keep the swing plane correct. A great deal of ingenuity and laughter was shared on the putting green on Saturday morning.

Tom Elliott and Bill Kelley tied with 13 points and in a one hole putt-off, Tom was crowned in this, his rookie year. Dennis Johnson became the Grand Putter Whacker for the 2nd time, having won in 1994.

Champions in the Horserace this year were Bob Pacquer and Gene Dell.

If a lot of people gripped a knife and fork the way they do a golf club, they'd starve to death.
